Writer’s Blog, Writer’s Block

I don’t suppose anyone can be blamed for taking a break from having translated over 40,000 words in a mere thirty days. But a break, a wee break just to scribble down some thoughts which one day will hopefully be woven into more cohesive prose proves too much of a luxury for someone with dues to pay, obligations to fulfil, and relations to support.
That someone, who is spiritually loaded but emotionally bankrupt, is having a hell of a time trying to find that elusive life that promises adventures, excitements and maybe simply a leisurely stroll and a breath of fresh air before she snaps.
I hope she’ll be allowed to take some sweet revenge when the baking sun gets less relentless.

“You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley.
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in the fields of gold.
So she took her love
For to gaze awhile
Upon the fields of barley.
In his arms she fell as her hair came down
Among the fields of gold.”

One

Oh,
The one book to read and write
And the one working day to slave through,
The one cake to die for
And the one pound to shed and the one inch to lose,
The one coffee to down
And the one sleepless night to stay awake,
The one song to listen to and sing along
And the one dance to save
For the one person to tango with.
The one kiss to kiss
With the one kisser in marital bliss,
The one film to watch and weep over
In the one pitch-dark theatre.
The one race to run
And the one record to break.
The one dream to dream,
And the one after one obstacle,
That takes two to overcome.

‘We’re one but we’re not the same
We get to carry each other, carry each other’

lamb lighthouse

lighthouse, lambs and chagall

Most holidaymakers will simply grab the most mundane and banal items from the most wishy-washy souvenir shops for their friends back home. Who would be so thoughtful as to buy your friend a lighthouse--a dwelling she can but only dream of, the setting to the perfect romance, and the one place that ignites creative sparks--even if it is just a model?

Having said that, if a picture paints a thousand words and a photo says a thousand more, the lighthouse will be the last gift I take from my friends. After all, we can't take them to the grave, can we? The money is better spent for charitable causes.
